It includes all details of the goods sent or services provided like product name, description, quantity, details of the purchaser, details of the supplier, terms of sale, the price charged, etc.
GST Invoice Format
- Name, address, GSTIN of the supplier
- Date of insurance
- Description of goods or services
- Name, address, GSTIN of the recipient
- HSN Code
- Address of the delivery place
- Amount of the goods and services
- Rate of Tax (CGST, SGST, IGST)
- Discounts
- Whether the tax is payable on a reverse charge basis
- The signature or digital signature of the supplier
If the supplier is registered under the composition scheme, then he has to issue a Bill of Supply instead of a tax invoice.
Types of Invoices
- Bill of Supply
A bill of supply is like a GST invoice but a bill of supply does not have any tax amount because the
seller cannot charge GST to the buyer. - Aggregate Invoice
Aggregate or bulk invoice for the multiple invoices is generated if the value of multiple invoices is
less than Rs. 200 and the buyer is unregistered. - Debit Note
Whenever the value or tax charged in an invoice is less than what is actually payable/chargeable, the supplier must issue a debit note to the recipient. The details of such debit note must be declared in the return for the month during which such debit note has been issued. It should be issued within 30 days from the date of such price revision. - Credit note
Whenever the value or tax charged in an invoice is more than what is actually payable/chargeable or where the recipient has returned the goods, the supplier must issue a credit note to the recipient. Credit note is issued on or before 30th September of the next financial year or before filing the annual return of GST, whichever is earlier.
